Dear Families,
As many of you are aware, we experienced a large number of absences last week and students had a variety of ‘guest teachers’ in their class. I would like to congratulate all of the students on the beautiful way they welcomed Teaching and Learning Officers from Catholic Education into our school. CE staff, continually spoke of how polite, warm and caring our children were towards them and towards each other. Our school motto ‘To Care’ was being lived throughout the week as children offered to help out our visitors in whatever way they could. I would like to thank Mr Barnard, Mrs Blake, Mrs Cambrige, Mr Kemp, Ms Rayner, and Mr Wigg from Catholic Education for their support.
On Tuesday we hosted our first Open Morning for prospective families. Parents were led through the school by Year 6 leaders who talked to them about programs at the St Thomas Aquinas, what they liked most about the school and why they would recommend the school to others. The families who attended the Open Morning spoke of how confident and polite our students were and how excited they were to be sending their children to such a warm and welcoming school. Again, we are so proud of our confident and caring Year 6 leaders and how well they represent the school.
Today students in Years 3 and 5 begin their NAPLAN tests. While we know these are not the only measures of student progress, they are a helpful measure for us as we can assess the effectiveness of programs and supports here at St Thomas Aquinas. Thank you for your support in ensuring students are well rested and here on time each day. I would also like to thank their teachers for preparing them for this and Carmen Myles for all of her work in the background.
This week, we will see a return to whole school events with our Cross Country carnival. It will be wonderful to once again be able to welcome volunteers back onto the school site so you can be part of this event. Now all we need to do is pray for a sunny day!
Take care and God bless
Yours in Faith
Leah Taylor
Principal

SCC Update |
Term 2 has started with a flurry of activity, within our STA community and the SCC.
Secondhand Clothing
If you’ve done a change of season wardrobe purge, the SCC clothing pool is always accepting STA uniform items. The clothing pool is stocked with donated items so both summer and winter uniforms are accepted and sold all year.
The clothing pool is open every Monday morning (8:45am - 9am) and Wednesday afternoon (3pm - 3:20pm).
Election Day - sausages, cakes and biscuits, oh my!
The SCC will be holding a fundraising BBQ and cake stall on election day, Saturday 21 May 2022.
This is a great opportunity to not only enjoy a tasty Democracy Sausage or cake but to meet some amazing STA community members by volunteering for an hour (or, if you’re keen, more!)
Monies raised will be used for the continued playground improvements. Keep an eye out for notes and cake stall requests if you have not already received them!
Positions Vacant
There are several vacancies at the moment for Parent Representatives to join the SCC.
Our council is made up of STA faculty, parents and parish representatives. If you are interested in supporting our dedicated STA staff, we encourage you to come to the next meeting to meet current council members and see what meetings are like.

Naplan will take place for Years 3 & 5 this term between the 10th and 20th of May. Here are some key points to remember.
- Year 5 students must use their own device during the testing period. Therefore, please ensure that devices are charged overnight and ready for use each morning. There will be no spare devices or time allocated for charging.
- Year 5 students are required to use headphones. These also need to be with each student each day.
- It is essential that all Year 3 & 5 students must arrive to school on time each day as NAPLAN testing is time controlled and will commence at 9am
For further information please refer to the below information or do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher.
CANTEEN
The Canteen is open from Wednesdays to Fridays - for the first 10 minutes of each break. We sell a limited selection of healthy canteen approved chips and ice blocks.
SUBWAY
Parents and staff are able to place Subway Orders Online. Click on the link below to place an order and payment as well.
Cut-off time is 9:15 AM for same day delivery.
Call on 02 6259 9101 to place your order after this time
Subway Lunch Orders can also be made, via Subway Envelope, at school. Subway envelopes, including cash, need to be placed in the Lunch Order Subway box, located outside the Front Office, by 9:30am on the day before the lunch is required. For example, if you would like a lunch order on Wednesday, the lunch order needs to be manually submitted by Tuesday 9:30am.
Here is a sample of the Subway ordering envelope. Envelopes are available from the Front Office or the classroom.
