Dear Families,
Many of you may have seen photos of the almost completed ELC building on facebook last week. Builders are in the final stages of finishing off, along with the landscapers who are creating a wonderful nature space for the children to play in. We hope to be able to begin using the space early in Term 2.
You may have also noticed the ovals are taking shape very quickly now. We had a bit of a delay due to the rain, but turf was finally able to be laid last week. Trees and shrubs will be planted over the next few weeks. Like the ELC, all going well, we should be able to open the ovals to students early in Term 2.
NAPLAN results were released on Wednesday last week. The improvement from Year 3 to 5 is a testament to the work of teachers and the Diverse Learning team. While we know we still have a way to go, we are excited to see that the programs and professional learning teachers are currently engaging with are having an impact. We will continue to implement Direct Instruction across the school and to support students with additional needs with specific intervention programs including Minilit, Macqlit and Reading Tutor, and tailored Maths intervention. We were a little disappointed to see a dip in Grammar and Punctuation from Years 3 to 5. We introduced the Writing Revolution in the middle of last year to tackle this issue and have already seen an improvement in student understanding of Grammar which is also flowing through to their writing.
The ACT government have just released the new roadmap. We are very pleased to see that we will be able to hold our Athletics and Cross country carnivals next term and will even be able to have parent helpers. Mr Mackenzie is busy organising the cross country. I look forward to being able to communicate more information regarding changes to restrictions over the next few months.
Take care and God bless.
Yours in Faith
Leah Taylor
Principal

Registration closes Monday 28th March. If you have any questions you can contact Mrs Skye McPadden (skye.mcpadden@cg.catholic.edu.au).
