Dear St Thomas Aquinas community,
Thank you again for our fete on Saturday. Thank you everyone who coordinated, assisted and attended. Thank you for making it a fantastic community event that everyone can feel proud of.
All comments so far have indicated that it was a hit, despite the rain. Well done to the fete team for having the courage to make the decisions early and set up for success. Thank you for the fabulous leadership by Arianne, Tara and Carmen.
St Thomas Aquinas Community Council
Our SCC (St Thomas Community Council) is a very active group of parents who work to support the students, family and staff of the school. In recent years they have been instrumental in developing opportunities for families to become connected, to provide additional resources for student learning and to encourage staff in their professional development.
The work of the SCC is vital to our school community. It has a positive impact on everyone. There are a number of members whose children leave St Thomas Aquinas at the end of this year and we welcome new members to join us in maintaining a positive future for our school and community.
Please scroll down further to find out more about how you can be part of the SCC and help shape the school that supports your child's learning.
Awards
Congratulations to all of our students who received class awards at our morning assembly last Friday. The teachers take a great deal of time to spot, name and celebrate excellent effort and achievement for our students. I really enjoy reading the descriptions of why children receive their awards. They often amaze me.
Congratulations to all of our students who have been receiving white token certificates as well. Students need to continuously show quite a lot of positive engagement and behaviour at school to earn a white token. We are very proud of these children and their efforts.
Awards and tokens are very important ways of acknowledging and celebrating positive school behaviour that aligns with our school values. "You get more of what you focus on" and so our 'every day' systems for recognising positive student behaviour are important for every child to learn and know how to get the most out of school.
Pupil Free Days
The last and first day of each term this year are pupil free days. This means that schools are 'open' but staff are engaged in essential professional learning and administrative tasks to maintain a high quality education program here at St Thomas Aquinas. Students do not attend school on pupil free days.
The last day of this term for students is Thursday April 10. For those families requiring care for Friday April 11 OSHClub provide an excellent service. Please follow the link to find out more information.
As we near the end of term I'm looking forward to the school holidays, having spent my first term getting to know many students, staff and families. With a short rest, greater knolwedge of our community and time spent in planning with staff I'm excited about what we can achieve for the remainder of the school year.
Have a wonderful week.

The Council has a decision making role in certain policy areas and an advisory role in others. The policies of the school are always set within the mission of Catholic education.
The Council currently consists of a diverse mix of parents, teachers and parish members. The Council Executive is comprised of:

A number of a valued members will step down from their current positions on the Council at the end of this year. Their time, dedication and commitment to the roles is truly appreciated and respected.
