Welcome to Week 6!
The Amazing Adventures of Superstan
Only one week to go until our school musical, The Amazing Adventures of SuperStan and plenty of jobs and practising still to happen. The children are rehearsing their lines, practising their dance moves and learning their songs ready for an amazing day of performing next Tuesday.
Remember to invite your family and friends to join us for our matinee performance at school which starts at 12pm and our night performance at St Francis Xavier College, Florey beginning at 6:30pm.
See you there!
STA Fete 2019
Thank you to each and every one of you for your support with our school fete this year.
Every little bit helps and whether it was volunteering your time during the fete, helping with pack up or set up, clean up jobs at school this week, baking, donating items for stalls or inviting family and friends to come along on the day, THANK YOU!
Our fete was a wonderful community day, of fun and smiles for our students, their families, friends and our parishioners.
I also offer a HUGE thank you to our fete committee, who worked tirelessly to make the fete the amazingly successful event that it was.
2020 Kinder and ELC Orientation Day
Next Wednesday we have the first of our Orientation days for our new ELC and Kinder students for the 2020 school year. Our second session will be held the following Wednesday in Week 8.
Both sessions begin at 9:15am and end at 11am. Students will be visiting the classrooms to spend time with the teachers and getting to know each other. They will get to know the classroom spaces and start to see what ‘big school’ is all about.
Thank you to our ELC teachers Carla Drayton and Elle Heenan and our 2020 Kinder teachers, Maddy Evans and Angela McDonald, for their hard work in preparing for the days learning and activities.
Morning Supervision Arrangements
Please be aware that morning supervision does not begin until 8:30am. We have noticed a large number of students being dropped off, or arriving at school, prior to 8:00am. Due to OSH Club licensing, students are not able to wait in the School Hall, or corridor outside the toilets. All students are now required to sit and wait outside, in the courtyard area near the sand pits, until teachers are on duty at 8:30am.
Staff Announcement
I would like to congratulate Ms Ashleigh van Kemenade on her appointment to St John the Apostle in Florey for the 2020 school year. We wish her well for her new endeavours.
God bless and have a good week,
Please note that the last day of Term 4 is Thursday, 19 December 2019.
All students return to school on Monday, 3 February 2020.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS |
Community News is now located on our website.
OSH attended the fete this year. We were so happy we could get involved and help raise money for the school. We will be announcing the winner of the colouring competition on Monday, 25 November so make sure you drop your pictures off to the OSH office by Friday, 22 November. We will contact the winner of the Slime Kit to organise pick up.
Our soccer incursion has finished for Term 4. Ivan was kind enough to spend his Wednesdays teaching us some new soccer skills.
We are still running Lids for Kids and our bin is always full. If you cannot find the bin in the hall, feel free to drop your lids off next to the OSH office, and we will put them away once we empty the bin. So far, we have collected 8 bins worth of lids.
OSH will be operating on Friday, 20 December, depending on bookings. Please make sure you book soon so we can get an idea of how many families need care for that day.
Bookings are now open for the January 2020 holidays, and you can also start to enrol for next year as well.
If you have any questions about enrolling or bookings, feel free to come past and talk with Jess at the OSH office. I’m there in the mornings or from 2pm.
Wwe have started exploring tinkering at Oshclub, when children tinker, they are learning about the properties of materials and the capabilities of tools. Children are able to explore physical properties of materials. They tinker as they take things apart, put things together, figure out how they work and attempt to build and make creations with tools.

This week we look at: Do Video Games Cause Violent Behaviour?
75th Canberra Carols by Candlelight
School families are invited to bring a picnic dinner and join in the 75th Canberra Carols by Candlelight, to be held at Stage 88, Commonwealth Park, on Saturday, December 14 from 7pm.
Organised by the Woden Valley Youth Choir, this event is the second longest-running city community carols in Australia (Melbourne is the longest).
Come and join us for a night of song and celebration. It's a great way to begin the Christmas season.
We'll also be collecting donations for this year's charity.
Find us on Facebook ("75th Carols by Candlelight") for more details.
