Dear Families,
Many of you will be pleased to know that we have filled the Classroom Support Teacher position. Kathryn Olsen will be joining us from next year. Kathryn currently works in the government system and also runs her own tutoring business working with students with dyslexia. She comes with a wealth of experience and is excited to be working at St Thomas Aquinas. Kathryn will be coming in for a few days before the beginning of next year so she can get to know some of the students and their needs.
Many of you will have seen the announcement that Skye McPadden will be moving to St Thomas More’s at Campbell next year. Skye has worked as Religious Education Coordinator at St Thomas Aquinas for the past four years. She has been a valuable member of our leadership team and I have valued her contribution as both a teacher and as REC.
Last week our preschool students had their first assembly. I congratulate the whole ELC team on this assembly and could see that their hours of practice really paid off. It was also wonderful to see so many families come to watch the assembly.
Lee will be travelling abroad from the end of this week to attend her son’s wedding. Steph will be stepping into the finance role in the front office and Chay, who many of you may know from the ELC, will be helping Steph out for the rest of the year. While we are doing our best to cover the gaps, there may be a few days where there is limited staffing at the front office, and we ask for your understanding.
Take care and God bless
Principal

We have had a few reported cases of Influenza A within the school. Please visit the link below for information on symptoms and how best to treat at home. Please note that Influenza A is contagious and as such we ask that you work with us to keep the spread of Influenza A to a minimum by keeping children at home if they are unwell or have any symptoms.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Please note that school fees are due this Friday 10th November 2023.
We encourage payment to be made by BPAY. Details of which will be on your Fee Statements.
If you have any questions please do not heistate to contact the front office.
Thank you.
This term students have been introduced to Ngunnawal vocabulary. This week students will be learning "Wagi" meaning "Dance". Thank you Miss Evans for continuing our learning of our Ngunnawal Country.
The Game On events are community based, free, family friendly physical activity “pop up” events, which will see us conduct four events in eight suburbs across Canberra each year, utilising local parks, ovals, sports courts/fields. The aim of the events is to promote physical activity/60mins a day target for children through providing fun, accessible sessions and ideas for children, families and school communities. Our aim is that the events are a pre-cursor to ongoing community based physical activity and we will evaluate the sessions through a range of measures.
To confirm, we will be running four events on the following dates:
Walk, Talk, Workout: Sunday 5th November 10am-11.30am
Run, Jump, Catch, Throw: Friday 10th November 3.15pm-4.30pm
Navigate & Participate: Wednesday 15th November 3.15pm-4.30pm
Bike Skills & Drills: Friday 24th November 3.15pm-4.30pm
All events will be held at Belconnen Netball Association Courts
