Dear Families,
Welcome to Week 9. Can you believe we only have 8 more school wake ups before holidays!
Our Year 5 & 6 students are off at camp this week and are by all accounts enjoying a fun time at Fitzroy Falls. So far the kids have enjoyed the ropes course, the giant swing, roasting marshmallows by the camp fire and some creative dancing from some of our teachers.
At this stage buses are due to return on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm. Please check Compass for updates on their arrival home tomorrow.
Congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 TOM's team who enthusiastically competed in the regional finals over the weekend. This is the first time that STA has progressed to this stage of the competition and we are so very proud of our team for their wonderful work. A huge thank you goes to Mrs Griffin and Mrs Wicks who gave up countless lunch times, afternoons and weekends to work with these wonderful students.
All of our gorgeous little Kinder students have now completed their Kinder Health Checks with the Community Nurses. Reports from these Checks will be prepared by the Nurses and sent home to families next term.
This week we pray for our Year 4 students and their families as they celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday evening in St Thomas Aquinas Church. The students will then celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist this weekend during our normal Parish Masses on Saturday and Sunday. We wish them all the best for these very important celebrations and milestones in their lives. A big thank you to the Year 4 teachers, Mrs Skye McPadden, Ms Aurora Lukass our Parish Secretary and Father Gerard for all of their hard work in helping the students and their families prepare for these Sacraments.
Enjoy the rest of week 9.

Following their success at the regional competition, our Tournament of Minds team competed on the weekend against five other finalists in the Social Sciences category at the Australian National University. It was a big day for the team, meeting at 8am in readiness for their 3 hour lockdown challenge. They took the challenge in their stride, working well together to come up with their response. Taking on different roles within the team they wrote scripts, made props and costumes in readiness to perform in the afternoon.
The team received positive responses from the judges following both their Spontaneous Challenge and the presentation of their 3 hour challenge but unfortunately weren’t the winners of this round.
We are yet to receive formal feedback but everyone at STA is so very proud of their teamwork, creativity, effort and sportsmanship.
Well done!!
We congratulate all participating students and welcome families to join us in celebrating these students at our Awards Assembly on Friday 22 September 2023 at 2pm in the school hall
