Message from Mrs Myles

Welcome to week 5, it's hard to believe we are already half way through Term 3. It is lovely to see some sunshine starting to come into our days and we are enjoying some longer daylight hours. With this slightly warmer weather students are reminded to wear a hat.

Last Friday we celebrated our inaugural Chinese Expo Day which was a brilliant success! This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about Chinese language and culture and we were very lucky to be joined by so many volunteers from the Federation of Chinese Community Canberra. We would like to thank Chairman Gu and his team for their time and expertise in immersing our students in such a meaningful experience. The concert in the afternoon was an amazing event and we are grateful for the many families that were able to join us for this event. In particular, we would like to give a huge thank you and congratulations to our amazing Chinese teacher, Mrs Sally Wang for her many hours of careful planning, meetings, shopping and preparation to make this day such a terrific experience for our students. We are lucky to have such a dedicated teacher!

This week, we have another very busy week at STA, Mr Cleary is away at SILOAM, Principal's Retreat at St Clement's in Galong. This is his termly Principal's retreat facilitated by CE, allowing Principals some much needed time away from school to reflect and take part in prayer with fellow Principals.

We congratulate our 37 students who are representing STA at the regional PSSA Athletics Carnival today. This is a wonderful achievement and a amazing opportunity for these students to showcase their talents and sporting prowess. Thank you to Mrs Thomas and Miss Mudford for joining our students on the day.

On Thursday our senior choir led by Mrs Naomi Wicks have been invited to perform as part of the ceremony at Parliament House for the changing of the National Flag. This is an invitational event and we are very proud that we have the opportunity to showcase STA and our students is such a prestige way. We wish them all the best for this performance.

Book Week is finally here and we are all excited for our Book Week dress up day and parade this Friday at 10am in the hall. Parents and families are invited to join us for this fun morning and we can't wait to see all the creative characters and costumes on display. Thank you to all the wonderful parents and grandparents for all of your hard work behind the scenes helping our students with their costumes.

A friendly reminder that we need your help to continue to grow our school and community to be an engaging and welcoming place for everyone. We can only do this with your feedback. We ask that if you have not already completed the TTFM Survey which was in last week’s newsletter, please jump on and spend a few minutes completing this survey this week using the link below.

Have a magnificent week.
