Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have a jam-packed week this week and our lovely Kindergarten students started us off with celebrating their 100 days of Kinder on Monday. Congratulations to families, our wonderful Kinder teachers, Kelly Scanlan & Ella Barry and our clever students on making this milestone. We look forward to another hard working 100 days of Kinder as we head towards the end of their first formal year of schooling.
The annual St Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Winter Woolies day will be held on Thursday, 1 August 2024. The SVdP provide much needed support especially to those families within our West Belconnen region. SVdP not only assist the homeless, but there is also much more that SVdP offer such as financial planning assistance and immediate short term help, food hampers, as well as the wonderful work they do from their shop fronts. Our annual Winter Woolies day is where the children can dress in free uniform and we ask for all children to please bring in a donation of winter items such as socks, beanies, gloves, jumpers, jackets, blankets and sleeping bags. Jackets, blankets and sleeping bags can be second hand if clean and in good condition. Items do not need to be only for children, Vinnies are always looking for adult sized items for men and women. We will be visited by the night patrol van at School on Thursday. Students will have the opportunity to chat with SVdP volunteers and to view the night patrol van and learn about the valuable work which happens from this community-based support.
Olympics fever has hit us! We will celebrate Green and Gold Day in recognition of our Aussie athletes who are competing at the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. Students are invited to wear Green and Gold to celebrate this amazing sporting milestone.
From August 5th, we are inviting parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. Over the coming weeks, we will be surveying staff, parents and students. These surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Thomas Aquinas.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. A link to complete the 2024 survey will be in next weeks newsletter.
Lastly, Monica Culas commenced her maternity leave this week and we have welcomed Georgia Nielsen as the Classroom teacher for 2 Blue. We also welcome Sam Gergely who has joined our team and will be teaching in various roles across the school.
Warmly,
Tim Cleary
