School Community Council Term 3 Update
With Term 3 drawing to a close, the St Thomas Aquinas School Community Council (SCC) would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all the members of our school community who volunteered and attended events this term. We can never overstate that value that comes from being involved with your child’s school community and are excited that with the easing of Covid restrictions, in 2023 has seen the highest uptake in volunteer support in years.
Without our growing group of volunteers, the SCC wouldn’t have been able to run such activities in Term 3 as:
- Our first school disco in 4yrs. Almost 50 volunteers helped make the night a raging success! Thanks Tara & all her new crew for running such a fun event.
- Our 2023 Fathers Day ‘Donuts with Dad’. Once again, thanks to Bec & Adam Stanworth for organising this lovely morning.
- The Andrew Fuller Presentation, with the high attendance far out numbering our expectations.
- The 2024 Fete Committee Meetings. Keep an eye out for Term 4 meeting dates – all welcome and so many roles, big and small to fill.
- The SCC Uniform Shop, which is open to all families on Tuesday afternoons and Friday Mornings.
We’d like to thank in particular Meg, Merin, Bernadette & Julia for running the Uniform Shop over the last two terms. And a special thanks to Clare for her tireless work in washing and sorting all the clothes that come into the front office. The Uniform Shop provides an opportunity to not only scoop up some great deals on school clothes, but also the chance to make new friends in the school community. In Term 4 we would love to expand the roster of volunteers on Tuesdays & Fridays – if you have 20 mins to spare on either of those days let us know!
Term 4 happenings
Week 1, Saturday the 14th of October will see the school hall being utilised once again as a polling place. The 2023 Referendum will see hundreds queue to place their vote and the SCC are aiming to provide the hungry voters with all the food they need that day. We are seeking volunteers, new and old, to help run the BBQ. If you can spare an hour or two after you Vote, please fill in the BBQ volunteer form and send it back to the Front Office ASAP.
Many hands make very light work. And there is no better way to make a new friend or two – just ask all the new 2023 volunteers who have already found new friends in our school community.
There are many ways to become involved in our STA Community and volunteering is just one of them. The SCC holds open meetings every weeks 3 & 8, Tuesday 6pm in the Library. Please come along, find out more about what the SCC does and what you can do to become involved.
Once again, thank you for all your support. I look forward to seeing more new faces in Term 4.
