Dear Families,

I have been sending out a bit of information over the past few days regarding remote learning, lockdown and care arrangements...and I am certain there will be a great deal more still to come. Yesterday, we heard the probably unsurprising announcement that this lockdown will be extended for a further two weeks which will take us through to the 2nd September. As much as the lockdown is inconvenient and may even be challenging, it is absolutely necessary. We all need to do our part to stop the spread of this virus so that we can all get back to some type of normal as soon as possible. Please be assured we understand that most of our community are regarded as essential workers. The criteria for remote learning is, if you or your partner are at home or you have other care available for your child, they should stay home and engage in remote learning. This will help to keep everyone in our community safe, remembering that the vast majority of our community, including a large number of teachers have only just become eligible to be vaccinated.

Our teachers have been busily preparing lessons and content for students to access remotely. We know that different families have different circumstances and while some will be doing their best to embrace their ‘inner teacher’, others will be juggling their own TEAMS calls and workload, so do what suits you and your situation. There is no pressure for your child to have 5 hours worth of work uploaded at the end of each day. If the only thing your child does each day is check in with their class, and then sits with you on the weekend to get some of their work completed, then that is fine. If you are concerned about the work (or lack of work) your child is completing, touch base with your child’s teacher.
