Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we are in our final week of Term 1. This time last year, we were handing out home learning packs dressed in our pyjamas! It is wonderful to be able to finish off the term this year with students physically at school.

This week is also Holy Week. As Catholics, we see this week as probably the most sacred time of the year. Palm Sunday marks the end of Lent with Christ’s triumphal entrance into Jerusalem, knowing that shortly He will be betrayed by those closest to Him and by those who welcomed Him as a king. While Good Friday reminds us of the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us, the greatest moment for Christians occurs during the Easter vigil, where we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection. As Christians, our God is a living God and Easter reminds us of this.

Student Management System - COMPASS
Next term the school will be moving to a new Student Management System called COMPASS. This Catholic Education initiative will be rolled out across all Catholic schools in our Archdiocese. This system will replace a number of different programs we currently have in place to manage student data. Some of this data includes:

  • Attendance
  • Events
  • Student Reporting
  • Student Wellbeing
  • Parent Portal

A flyer of the benefits of COMPASS is included below. We will start the roll out with student attendance and gradually introduce other elements of the system throughout next term. This new system requires parents, of students who are late, to school to sign their children in using the electronic kiosk. This means if you need to sign your child/ren in/out you will need to come into the front office to do so electronically.

Caritas Fundraising
I would like to thank all of you for your generous support of our fundraising for Caritas. So far we have raised over $1200 for the missions. This equates to 240 chickens or 120 COVID prevention kits and much, much more! We know families still have raffle tickets to send in so I am sure that by Thursday, we will have gone well past this target.

I wish you all a Holy Easter. If you are travelling over the school holidays, be safe. I look forward to seeing all students back at school on Tuesday 20th April.

New procedures for Kinder pick-up
The area outside of the kinder classrooms has been fenced off a little earlier than expected to prepare the grounds for our new ELC. This will mean that parents will not be able to pick up students from outside of the kindergarten classroom. Instead, students will meet their parents at their morning line-up area.

God Bless
