Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

It was just wonderful to see our 2021 Kinder students yesterday for their orientation day. The group accepted the COVID-19 changes we had to make this year, said a quick goodbye to mums and dads and jumped straight into the activities set up in the classrooms. Mrs McDonald and Mrs Mason spent a little time getting to know their students, then their buddies came in to share fruit break before the students went out to the equipment for a play. Everyone even seemed to cope with the unexpected fire alarm and evacuation, with our newest members listening to the teacher’s directions and moving calmly to the evacuation point. The children thought it was very exciting to have the fire brigade arrive for their orientation. We received the all-clear and students were able to collect their bags ready to go home. A huge thank you to our new Kinder parents for understanding our situation, adapting to the restrictions that have been put in place and for your patience while waiting to be allowed back into the building.

As we approach the end of year, I am pleased to say that restrictions are continuing to ease. This means we will even be able to have one Graduation Mass at 10am on the 11th December followed by morning tea and a Graduation Disco that night. Students will also be able to enjoy some of the usual end of school events including their Big Day Out at CISAC and the Water Fight on their last day. Sadly, at this stage we will not be able to have parents at our Passing of the Light ceremony this year.

We have been finding that some of our students are starting to message their parents, or other family members, asking to be picked up. This messaging is a breach of our ICT policy that you and your child signed at the beginning of each year. If this occurs please either ignore the message, or call the Front Office if you have any concerns. We have had a number of family members rush into school expecting to collect a sick child only to find them happily playing. Please know that we will contact you if your child is unwell or injured and I thank you for your cooperation.

God Bless
